I love ice for its chill factor, but I despise how it compromises the integrity of a good drink. A frosty mug of A&W rootbeer - perfection.

I propose that Protestant Work Ethic is an enemy of ice - it (PWE) tells us to get out of our hammock and get back to a work-fidget of some sort instead of enjoying the simple pleasures of life. (Note: the monks are known for their brewed beer).

If using ice rejects laziness does that make people with ice dispensers in their fridge masters of modern society? They represent the more highly evolved creature, a group not willing to compromise on convenience or temperature. They have seen the poor, huddled on their porches shirtless, sipping warm beverages and ruing the day they were born. They have seen the labour of the middle class as they struggle to keep the trays filled and the bills paid at the same time. They have seen rich, ridiculed and resented, having ice-filled drinks brought to them by the pool. Ice Dispeners have seen all this and they have said no, there is a better way.

Of course at my house we have an ice dispenser that has been broken for months. I wonder what that says about us?

I'm going to have to say adding ice to a drink is not as good as you say. I do agree that a cold drink is good, but there's a flaw in your approach. You're simply advocating we water down our drinks and I find that unacceptable.

Sure if you drink it fast enough it might not be much, but it's still some none-the-less. With the exception of water, I like my drinks to have flavour to them. You may say "well there needs to be a trade-off where coldness is more important than flavour" and to that I say you are wrong, as you see it's possible to create a cold drink without watering it down.

By knowing the power of your freezer and some chemical properties of your favourite drinks you could place them into your freezer and bring them right to the brink of freezing, to then drink them.

What's that you say, this may require knowing what you want to drink about an hour before you want to drink it? Well then I say you are the lazy one using the jury-rigged solution of your pathetic ice-cubes, not being able to fully experience the flavour AND coldness of a good drink.

Haha, oh Keith, out of work for only a handful of days and you've already clearly got too much time on your hands.

Did you know, if you don't use your ice, it will eventually evaporate!
